A leading medium-sized commercial construction company, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Administrator/Officer to join their team on a temporary basis from January. This is an exciting and varied role that will involve assisting with the transition of ownership within the Accounts Department, working closely with the Directors to ensure a smooth handover.

The role is ideal for someone familiar with accounting practices in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Process weekly payroll (PAYE Employees), fortnightly payroll (Contractors), and monthly payroll (Salaries), including IRD filing and reconciliation.
  • Track and report costs for current projects, preparing monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Process GST returns, PAYE returns, and IRD payments in accordance with New Zealand tax regulations.
  • Handle payments for rents, leases, and utilities.
  • You may also be required to offer support with organise meetings, social functions, and staff recognition events as required. Answer incoming phone calls and emails.


What you will need to succeed

  • Proven experience in an accounts administration role within the construction industry is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Xero accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of GST Returns, PAYE returns, and IRD compliance.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills for financial reporting and data analysis.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Available to start in January on a temporary basis.
