Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice. This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 15 prisons, 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites. This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services.

We are seeking a Water Safety Implementation Support professional to join our team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is focused on delivering key initiatives within the Water Safety Improvement Plan to reduce drinking-water safety risks across the Ara Poutama Aotearoa water supply systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Water Safety Management Lead in executing deliverables for the Water Safety Improvement Plan.
  • Collaborate with the operational teams and the Department of Corrections to meet the agreed contract deliverables.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including the Water Safety Management Lead and National Compliance Manager, to ensure all obligations under the contract are fulfilled.
  • Deliver actions outlined in the Downer-controlled Water Safety Improvement Plan, including key documents and processes.
  • Develop and manage Monitoring Plans, Reporting Plans, Capability and Capacity Assessments, Manuals, SOPs, and customer complaint handling systems.

  • Relevant industry experience and qualifications.
  • Hold a valid Class 1 driver’s license.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with clients.
  • Proficient in documenting processes, producing reports, and using office-based IT tools (email, spreadsheets).
  • Committed to health, safety, and environmental management, with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
