The Team works across vital areas such as regulating compliance with the Building Code and Building Act on large array of commercial and residential projects dealing with a range of professionals within the building industry.

About the role
As an experienced Building Compliance Officer you will be responsible for the processes involved with both residential, commercial and industrial building compliance and appeals.

In this role you undertake investigations of complaints, carry out enforcement and conduct building inspections, in line with approved processes and legislative requirements of the Building Act 2004.

You'll ensure Council are fulfilling our purpose of facilitating and influencing excellent outcomes by educating and working with the public and industry. You'll also manage client relationships, budgets and work closely with stakeholders.

About you
Your people and relationship management experience will ensure your success in this role, as will your experience and qualifications in the area of Building Consents and Compliance. You will have:

  • Reg 18 or NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Building Regulation or an equivalent or working towards this
  • Prior experience with building specified systems eg fire safety, compliance schedules and building warrant of fitness
  • Prior experience in the area of compliance monitoring, enforcement and site investigations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
