About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
In this role, you will be responsible for successfully managing digital projects on MPI's Digital Investment Plan. This includes managing projects through delivery to completion, including managing internal resources, vendors/suppliers/partners, project objectives and expected benefits, risks and issues and financials. You'll be comfortable managing multiple projects concurrently. In addition, you'll prepare and present quality reporting to key stakeholders on project governance boards.
Specifically, you will:
- Mange the delivery of projects, with responsibility for the full project life cycle including handover to operations/BAU.
- Define outcomes, deliverables, success criteria, and controls
- Develop project plans and work schedules, ensuring that dependencies and interdependencies are identified and managed, especially those between technology, operations, and business needs
- Day to day management for the project(s) ensuring it adheres to the MPI Digital Portfolio standards.
- Ensure key milestones and deliverables are delivered to the appropriate levels of quality, on time, within budget, and in accordance with the approved project plan.
- Identify risks and issues and develop/action appropriate mitigation plans and/or escalate as required
- Provide project status reports on milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues
- Maintain effective recordkeeping of all project documentation
- Report to governance boards on project status, risks, and delivery progress
About You - Mōu
To be successful in this role, you'll have significant experience managing digital projects or programmes in a large and complex organisation.
In addition to the above, we are seeking an applicant with:
- Relevant experience in comparable ICT Project Management roles, ideally gained in large, complex environments with a mix of application and infrastructure projects.
- Deliveries in Saas Solutions are preffered.
- Sound knowledge of project management techniques and frameworks and the ability to apply these.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills (senior leadership, technical subject matter experts, business subject matter experts, vendors/suppliers/partners)
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
- Proven leadership skills, with a focus on leading project teams to successful outcomes
- Project management qualification/certification ideal

The role of Business Technology & Information Services (BT&IS) is to enable business technology solutions and deliver high-quality, cost-effective information & technology services to Ministry staff and external stakeholders. The Digital Portfolio Office is within BT&IS.
