Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Infrastructure Delivery team in Wellington, working firstly to complete the structural concrete for the Porirua Waster Water Tank then onto our other National Projects in the Wellington area.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering professional who thrives on managing diverse project operations and delivering outstanding results. There is potential to grow within a high preforming team to deliver key infrastructure in the region.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing key project components, ensuring contractual and technical requirements are met, optimising resource use, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Concrete or Steel experience would be desirable, drainage and civil experience would also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage contract/project performance, including subcontractor management, to ensure projects meet quality and timeframe requirements.
- Oversee project documentation, including contracts, claims, bonds, and supplier agreements.
- Drive financial efficiency by managing costs, investigating anomalies, and optimising resource use.
- Develop project methodologies, budgets, and construction programmes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support, coach, and mentor junior engineers and team members to build technical capability.
- Promote a Zero Harm culture and ensure safety, environmental, and quality measures are adhered to at all times.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
- 4+ years of experience as a Site Engineer or higher, preferably in infrastructure or construction projects.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of project management, construction methodologies, and scheduling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities, with experience managing subcontractors and teams.
- A full, clean driver’s licence is required
