Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our team. In this role, you will combine your expertise in welding with your metal fabrication skills to create and assemble high-quality metal structures and products. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in both welding and fabrication to showcase their versatile skill set.
As a Welder/Fabricator, you will be responsible for reading blueprints, interpreting technical drawings, and fabricating metal components using a range of tools and welding techniques. You will be an integral part of our production process, ensuring that all fabricated and welded parts meet safety standards and project specifications.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements and dimensions.
  • Metal Fabrication: Use various tools such as shears, presses, grinders, and saws to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
  • Welding: Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Oxy-Acetylene welding processes. Weld parts in different positions such as flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
  • Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials and ensure the correct selection of filler metals for welding processes.
  • Assembly & Fit-Up: Assemble and fit fabricated metal parts together, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure the quality and integrity of welds and fabricated components. Perform quality checks on completed work.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure specifications and project deadlines are met.
  • Safety Adherence: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and address any issues that arise during fabrication or welding processes.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage time to meet production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Welding Codes and Standards: Familiarity with welding codes and standards, such as AS/NZS 1554, that govern welding practices in New Zealand.
  • Qualifications: New Zealand Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication
