What We Are Looking For

Gearbox Entertainment Company is looking for a full-time Senior Animation Programmer to join our game development team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with animation, rigging, and design teams to prototype and implement animation tools, pipeline, and technology
  • Fix bugs and optimize code in existing systems
  • Create both technical and designer-facing documentation
  • Craft systems with animator and designer usability in mind
  • Implement appropriate testing and debugging support as needed
  • Support product performance goals by architecting and implementing systems with performance in mind
  • Contribute to the overall technical direction of the project by participating in architectural design sessions and code reviews
  • Mentor less experienced programmers


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of animation engineering experience in the games industry
  • Experience in animation technology (runtime systems, procedural animation, compression, physics based animation, IK, etc.)
  • Knowledge of animation techniques and authoring packages (Maya, Max, Motion Builder, etc)
  • Excellent understanding of C++
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work closely with animators, designers, and programmers in strike teams
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Shipped titles as an animation programmer or similar role
  • Console development experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in game design or computer science


Nice-to-Haves

  • Animation programming experience with first person shooter games
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
