Software Consultant - Test Engineering

About us:

You'll be part of a team that are on the forefront of working to deliver and support as an expert in their field, is an expert in the principles of test automation engineering, influences and advises on engineering decisions and contributes to the technical development of members of their squad.

About the role:

You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued.

We advocate agile, fully cross functional teams which will take you through all facets of engineering in any given day - where we are now looking for a mix of technical skills, including some of the following:

  • Build reusable automation framework architecture that pioneer best practices and enable engineers to work effectively
  • Design, code, test and deploy automation engineering to support product delivery
  • Have a solid understanding of key environments in which ASB's software is deployed and used
  • Write reusable, robust, integrated automation scripts that drive quality outcomes
  • Advocate testing as an integral part of the design process, not a separate phase of software development
  • Influence the team and ensure they are writing quality code that meets ASB standards through code reviews
  • Actively promote automation and its impact on quality and productivity and ensure best practice relating to automated testing methodologies
  • Coach and mentor engineers within the squad to develop their skills and awareness.


About you:

We'll value your teamwork spirit, willingness to learn new things, proven initiative, knowledge sharing, documentation skills, verbal communications skills, technical troubleshooting abilities and leadership skills as we look for every engineer to lead from their position.

With regards to background, you will need the following capabilities:

  • Technical domain knowledge - deep understanding and knowledge of technical domain expertise
  • Clean Code / Software Craftsmanship
  • Agile / DevOps - sound experience of working in an agile DevOps environment
  • CI / CD, operational experience and automation (Windows, Linux, Docker)
  • RDBMS Design and optimisation
  • NoSQL DB Design and optimisation
  • Test Automation - TDD, BDD
  • Architecture and design knowledge
  • Cloud and Cloud Native (AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes)
