Hutt Radio, a community radio station serving the Hutt Valley, is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help manage and support our team of dedicated volunteers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Outreach: Write and post engaging advertisements for new volunteer positions across various platforms.
  • Onboarding & Training: Assist in welcoming and guiding new volunteers to ensure they understand their roles and expectations.
  • Scheduling & Communication: Maintain volunteer rosters and keep the team informed of station updates.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering with Hutt Radio is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant and passionate community, where your work directly contributes to keeping local voices on the air.

You’ll gain valuable experience in recruitment and volunteer management, build connections with like-minded people, and play an essential role in the success of a community-driven station.

Plus, there's nothing quite like the buzz of live radio and knowing you’re helping keep it running!

Who we're looking for:

Our volunteers are our most valuable resource, and recruitment and retention our most important function. And that's where you come in!

This position would be perfect for someone who:

  • Is a people person – enjoys engaging with others and building strong relationships.
  • Has great communication skills – both written (for ads and announcements) and verbal (for interviews and onboarding).
  • Is organised and proactive – able to manage schedules, track applications, and keep things running smoothly.
  • Has an eye for talent – can assess applications and identify the right volunteers for admin roles.
  • Works well independently – while you’ll be part of a team, much of the role requires self-motivation.
  • Loves community media – an interest in radio or community initiatives is a big plus!

This role would suit someone with experience in HR, recruitment, or volunteer coordination, but we also welcome people with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Please be sure to include a CV with your application, or tell us a bit about your background.
