Job Description

Our client, based in East Auckland is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their team for an initial 3 months contract This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the finance function by ensuring transactional tasks are accurate and all company's accounting functions are complete. You will be part of a supportive team, working in a role that offers variety and the chance to make a real impact.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure transactional processing and reconciliations are completed according to the monthly timetable.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable team members when required.
  • Work with others in the Finance team to ensure daily transactions are complete and variances followed up.
  • Manage credit cards, including reconciling the clearing account, following up for Manager approvals and ensuring business processes are followed.
  • Responsible for the regular processing of payruns and the reconciliation/checking of the information.
  • Support the financial reporting function, including monthly accounts, capex and adhoc reports for NZPG are prepared and maintained according to the timeframes set.


What you bring to the Assistant Accountant role:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance discipline (not essential – experience counts!)
  • A minimum 3 years’ accounting experience preferably including time in Accounts payable and/or Accounts receivable
  • Accuracy and a strong focus on attention to detail
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer focussed with a service oriented approach
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
