About the role
Sanford Bioactives, our new marine extracts centre, produces high-value nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and ingredient products. Opened in late 2022, it uses advanced technology and research to drive a more diversified and sustainable future for our Greenshell Mussels. The centre features cutting-edge equipment, and a team dedicated to developing next-generation marine extracts.
This is a 6-month fixed term position located in Blenheim. Reporting into the Operations Manager, the Factory Supervisor will oversee the safe and efficient operation of the site, ensuring quality standards, production KPIs, and compliance requirements are met. This role works Monday to Thursday, 6PM - 6AM.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise production/operational staff, ensuring adherence to site expectations at the Bioactives and ENZAQ sites.
- Develop and maintain a staff skills matrix to identify training needs and support staff development.
- Uphold and maintain site quality expectations, supporting internal and external audits.
- Drive production performance, ensuring KPI targets are met while conducting toolbox and shift handover meetings.
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation procedures to maintain site and equipment hygiene standards.
- Manage stocktaking and maintain accurate records of packaging, maintenance, and disposable supplies.

What we're looking for:
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and compliance processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience with stock management and record-keeping.
- Production experience in food manufacturing or a related industry.
- 1-2 years of leadership experience in an operational setting, with a focus on team development and process improvement.
- Proven experience in the seafood industry, providing valuable industry-specific knowledge.
- Mechanical aptitude or experience in pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing would be an advantage.
