Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Supported Living team. You will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes to achieve their goals and aspirations. This is meaningful work where you can be creative and make every day interesting in ways that are important to others. This can include helping them to:

  • Manage and learn daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting
  • Keep in touch with family and friends as well as make new connections
  • Join community activities (e.g. sports and art)
  • Look for a job and navigate employment
  • Manage social issues and access relevant community services
  • Make good decisions and live a healthy lifestyle

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Previous relevant experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with varied life experience and an open-minded attitude. You should also have:

  • The skills to build good relationships with the people we support and help them make good decisions for themselves
  • The ability to work independently and problem solve in complex situations
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to share information in a way that can be easily understood
  • Comfortable and proficient in using technology
  • You will need to be physically fit to support in a variety of activities
  • Have a Full NZ driver's licence
