Our Merchandise team works with supplier partners and store teams on category ranging, buying, pricing and promotions so we can get the right products on the right shelves at the right time for our customers.

Te Tūranga – About the role
Reporting to the Category Manager, you’ll be responsible for your category across our retail banners (PAK’nSAVE, New World and Four Square). You’ll own and actively design strategies that drive growth across your assigned categories, planning, organising and operating the category to meet financial targets both as an individual and as part of the team.

To achieve this you’ll:
· Plan, organise and operate the category and agree goals, measures and service levels with the Category Manager in order to grow and maintain market share, establish operational standards and ensure brand consistent positioning.
· Manage and control the processing of product, pricing and promotional administration of the category’s portfolio of products.
· Build and manage effective working relationships and alliances with suppliers, stores and other key stakeholders.
· Coordinate all elements of promotional administration and ensure output to Category Manager for review is within scheduled deadlines.
· Determine and realise strategic objectives through category planning, supplier influence, collaboration and negotiation, pricing, merchandising, range management and product positioning.

He kōrero mōu - About you
Commercially astute and with an understanding of market trends and influences, you’ll be someone who loves numbers and can turn those into a meaningful story to develop strategy. Ideally from a category background, you’ll be technically savvy, naturally curious and a confident communicator. You’ll also understand market trends, haveB2B experience and be self motivated, organised and a natural problem solver.

You’ll also:
· Have experience in operational management including ranging, sourcing, pricing and promotion.
· Be experienced in business analysis, trend identification and potential problem identification.
· Have proven experience in negotiation and management of commercial supplier / distribution agreements.
· Understand market trends and influences, both within New Zealand and globally.
· Have exposure to Category Management for large Merchandise brands.
· Have good numeracy and Microsoft Excel skills to an intermediate level (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables and analysis).
