Tradestaff have a variety of Drainlaying jobs across Auckland

We are looking for Drainlayers with background knowledge and experience with the following (but are not limited to):

  • Studying blueprints and specifications to determine system layouts and materials.
  • Installing and maintaining below-ground drainage systems, including sewerage and effluent disposal systems.
  • Assembling and installing pipes, valves, fittings, and associated ground support systems.
  • Cleaning, inspecting, and repairing stormwater drains, canals, and sewerage systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations during all tasks.
  • Excavating and prepare sites for drainage installations.
  • Performing diagnostic tests, such as pressure testing, to confirm system integrity.
  • Installing and maintaining stormwater management systems, including catch basins and culverts.
  • Operating specialized machinery like excavators and pipe lasers.
  • Recording and reporting system conditions, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Coordinating with engineers, contractors, and clients to align project goals.
  • Providing advice on drainage solutions and preventative maintenance.
  • Replacing or upgrade outdated or damaged system components.
  • Performing emergency repairs and address blockages promptly.


Ideally, you will be or have:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience
  • Trade qualifications preferred however scope and length of plumbing experience may substitute for the formal qualification
  • Relevant NZ PGDB License preferred
  • Your own tools
  • Own reliable transport
  • At least 2 work references
  • 100% commitment to Health & Safety
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Class 1 preferred but not essential


In return we offer competitive rates of pay, varied and challenging work, regular hours with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, as well as long-term opportunities.

Minimum pay range $28-$35 depending on experience
