Our council has set out a bold and ambitious plan for us to achieve. We work hard to deliver the best outcomes for our communities, are flexible in our approach, and we're committed to creating an inclusive and progressive work environment for our staff.

Our Neighbourhoods & Communities group works alongside the community to maintain active and vibrant networks, both within Council and across our shared spaces. This group aims to enhance the impact of our collective efforts for the communities we serve.

About the role
This role provides customer-focused services and community-led support which responds to the diverse needs of the community, and increases the awareness of, and engagement with community hub services including library.

Right now, we have a great permanent opportunity - working Tuesday to Friday 9am-5:30pm, and Saturday 8.45am-5.15pm. You will be working at the Naenae Neighbourhood Hub, however, you may be required to work in one of our other Lower Hutt based Hubs on occasion.

About you
We are looking for an innovative, community focused, and qualified librarian with a can-do attitude and passion for developing and supporting library programmes and hub services. You will have an outstanding customer service and community-led development ethos, with the ability to work alongside a diverse range of people of all ages and from every part of our community.

You might have a library qualification but you might have loads of expertise in a related field like book retailing, teaching, adult learning, digital literacy, social work or youth development.

A career with Hutt City Council offers you the satisfaction of contributing to your community, while working with likeminded people. Here at Hutt City Council, we're committed to providing opportunities for growth and development, while supporting a healthy work-life balance.
