Job Description

Can you whip up delicious, nutritious meals that children will adore? Are you looking for a part time role with school friendly hours? Have a kōrero with us today!

We are looking for a centre cook to join our amazing team! If you know your way around a kitchen, can get creative secretly adding veggies to meals, and love children, we’d love to hear from you! As our cook, you will play a vital role in preparing dishes that not only nourish our tamariki but also provide them with the essential energy they need to thrive, learn, and engage in playful activities!

This is a part time role for 3 days a week, ideally 8:30am – 3:00pm with some flexibility in hours and your working days. This role would be perfect for parents looking for school hours or if you are looking for a better work life balance!

About us:

At Busy Bees, we value every child and see them as a unique and special taonga. Our centre is well maintained, with natural resources and equipment to inspire inquisitive minds and provide physical challenges for children of all ages, in both our indoor and outdoor environments. With huge, outdoor play areas, for both our under and over 2’s, our children have plenty of space to explore nature in a safe environment. Our centre also provides nurturing and stimulating environments for young children with its separate nursery and preschool rooms.

What are we looking for?

  • Experienced in cooking for large groups, be it in a childcare centre or other environment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, at times under pressure.
  • Fit and active, as this is a busy role
  • Excellent at communication and have skills to build rapport with parents & children
  • Flexible in approach, but also able to work to a daily schedule
  • A real team player with a "can do" attitude
