Reporting directly into the Commercial Finance Manager the primary duties of the Senior Management Accountant include producing accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, while managing the month-end close process to ensure financial integrity. The role also involves providing detailed financial analysis and variance reporting to support decision-making and drive profitability. Additionally, the Senior Management Accountant is hands-on in managing balance sheet reconciliations, assisting with audits and supporting the annual tax return process.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial & Management Accounting:

  • Ensure the integrity of financial data across multiple business units.
  • Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Manage the month-end close process and ensure all financial records are complete and accurate.
  • Provide variance analysis and identify key drivers of financial performance.
  • Reconcile balance sheets and ensure proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual tax returns.


Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Collaborate closely with business units to provide detailed financial analysis and insights.
  • Review cost structures and advise on cost control measures to improve efficiency.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining financial models and long-term plans.


Business Improvement:

  • Develop best practices for financial operations to increase efficiency and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in financial processes and systems.


Collaboration & Communication:

  • Build strong working relationships with various business units.
  • Act as a point of contact for finance-related queries and provide advice and support.
  • Communicate financial information in an accessible and clear manner to non-financial stakeholders.


Advocacy for Change:

Lead change initiatives within the Finance function, ensuring they deliver value aligned with business objectives.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualification: CA/CPA qualified.
  • Experience: Ideally BIG4 trained with commercial exposure across management accounting or FP&A.
  • Skills: Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, able to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to leverage curiosity and commercial understanding to drive results.
  • Team Player: Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Personal Integrity: High degree of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage change effectively.
