We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team based at our Greymouth Freight Terminal. You will manage the day-to-day functions associated with the movement of freight in and out of the terminal. As part of your responsibility for Locomotive Engineers, you will set the KPI’s, maintain competencies for compliance and align terminal staff performance with company values. As a visual leader, safety is a priority, and you will work in a dynamic, commercial environment.


Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will manage customer relationships and staff performance, training, compliance and development.

  • Demonstrated experience within a heavy industrial/unionised environment
  • Operational visual leadership – this is not an office job! Expertise in analysing, evaluating and problem-solving, risks and unplanned supply disruptions (forward thinking, organised and resilient)
  • Experience in the management of a diverse workforce
  • Understanding of health & safety culture and what that means for the organisation, our people, the community, and environment
  • Current and Full NZ Class 1 Drivers License
