He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
As a Track Ganger, you’ll lead a team of dedicated professionals ensuring our tracks are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. You’ll allocate daily tasks, manage resources, and supervise work to maintain and renew our rail infrastructure. Your role is crucial in achieving operational priorities while upholding KiwiRail’s high standards for safety and quality.
From destressing and maintenance to problem-solving and mentoring your team, you’ll play a vital leadership role while staying hands-on with the work. Safety leadership is central to this position, where you’ll “walk the safety talk” and inspire others to uphold our Zero Harm culture.
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:
We’re looking for a proven leader with technical expertise and a passion for teamwork and safety. You’ll need:
- Experience in planning and leading rail maintenance work.
- Strong knowledge of track and structure maintenance, including relevant codes and standards.
- Exceptional leadership skills to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- A commitment to health and safety, with the ability to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting.
- The ability to travel and stay overnight as required.
Qualifications:
- Class 2 (HT) driver’s licence.
- Completed training up to the level of Senior Track Maintainer.
- Advanced track skills and certifications.
- NCEA Level 1 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
