Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

HAVE FUN, MAKE MONEY, CONTRIBUTE WISELY

Lead the retail team in the creation of an effervescent and effective in-store operation, giving Rubettes the ultimate customer experience

Guardian of the retail team structure, ensuring it aligns, and contributes to, RUBY’s overall business strategy

Execute, or oversee, the management of all retail team members, their workflow, and their training

Utilise financial and market knowledge to craft retail deliverables (for example sales, KPIs, rosters and expense budgets) that are best fit for RUBY, and ensure targets are met

Engage with, and oversee effective utilisation of, software to understand and improve sales OR retail performance

Deliver insightful and proactive sales and other data analysis, relevant to recipient(s)

Work collaboratively as part of the senior leadership team to deepen understanding of the key functions of all departments, and the corresponding team requirements, and link retail team with wider RUBY ecosystem

RETAIL TEAM STRUCTURE

  • Carefully maintain retail team structure, crafting adjustments as required, ensuring sales and operational functions are Best In Class
  • All team members aware of, and engaged with, potential progression pathways
  • Departmental communication clear and effective, and processes are well maintained, seeking out improvements as required
  • Execute, or oversee recruitment for all retail team members, ensuring right people, right roles, and in line with company strategy
  • Lead succession planning, representation and diversity strategies for the retail team
  • Contribute to company-wide training strategy, and ensure retail team are trained to meet the needs of our customers


MANAGEMENT

  • Meet expectations as defined in the Manager’s Handbook, for example:

  • Work closely with HR Business Partner to ensure full employment life cycle is best practice ( for example, recruitment, induction, training, reviews, exiting), and company resources (for example, RUBY Encyclopaedia, Manager’s Handbook) are consistently utilised
  • Health and safety processes upheld, and meet requirements under New Zealand law
  • Finesse and oversee performance management and disciplinary processes
  • Execute change management processes, including restructures, as required


FINANCIAL AND MARKET KNOWLEDGE

Continually deepen understanding of:

  • New Zealand retail market, and the factors that cause it to change
  • Direct and indirect competition
  • New Zealand economy, and global influences
  • New ways for customers to interact with brick-and-mortar retail
  • The effect of changing retail strategy to overall RUBY performance
