The policy sector is poised for steady growth in 2025, driven by the coalition government’s agenda, which will prioritise key areas such as law and order, education, health, and infrastructure. Our clients are seeking experienced Senior and Principal Policy Advisers who can demonstrate versatility and leadership across various ministries, guiding teams through periods of change. In these roles, you will be part of a dedicated and high-performing Policy Team, responsible for developing high-quality, evidence-based policy interventions in new, sensitive, and complex areas. Additionally, you will mentor and guide less-experienced staff, supporting their development while advancing the success of key policy initiatives.

We are looking for skilled and adaptable senior and principal policy professionals who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects while effectively prioritising tasks.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A solid understanding of government machinery, Cabinet processes, and structures relevant to policy-making.
  • Extensive experience in the policy development process, including scoping, problem definition, option assessment, regulatory impact assessments, risk mitigation, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality and timely policy advice quality in complex and challenging environments.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and succinctly across a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong capacities in leading policy projects particularly cross-government initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders from various professional and technical backgrounds to achieve policy outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior colleagues to ensure successful policy development and capacity-building within the team.
