Job Description

We are on the lookout for great instructors at our SwimWell facilities -Karori, Keith Spry (Johnsonville), Tawa, and WRAC (Kilbirnie). SwimWell runs year-round swimming education programmes for all ages, from infants to adults!

You do not need to be an experienced swim instructor as we provide full training for all our instructors.

You do need to be over the age of 16; have excellent communication skills, a positive can-do attitude, enjoy the water and love working with kids. If you are passionate about making a difference, lowering New Zealand's drowning rate and think you would get a buzz out of teaching our tamariki an essential life skill then you should join our team!

We can offer you permanent part-time hours during School Terms (a range of weekdays available), a fun and friendly atmosphere, teaching skills you can take anywhere in the world, possible job advancement through to leadership positions and the good feeling that comes with helping others.

We have inductions regularly throughout the year for part-time aquatic education instructors to join the team at one of our pools across Wellington. We have a variety of shifts available.

Our shifts are generally during the following School Term times:

  • School Hours (During Term time- School holidays off): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND/OR Friday - shifts ranging from 9am to 2.00pm/10am to 2.30pm
  • After School: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND/OR Friday - 3.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Weekends: Saturday AND/OR Sunday - 8.00am to 12.30 AND/OR 12pm- 4.30pm
  • If you're positive and energetic, with a passion for the water, have a great approach towards customer service and would enjoy teaching life skills, you're just what we're looking for! This is a safety sensitive role; applicants must be prepared to have a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a health check to be eligible for this role.

To be eligible for this role, you must be over the age of 16 and must have unrestricted legal rights to work in New Zealand. Must be residing in Wellington in 2025.
