We are looking for Reliever Teachers to join our team, supporting centres across Timaru. This flexible role allows you to work around personal commitments while making a meaningful impact on Tamariki’s learning and development. Timaru is a coastal town with a close-knit community, outdoor activities, and family-friendly attractions like Caroline Bay. BestStart has four centres in South Canterbury, all within a short drive.
Your Role as a Reliever Teacher
As a Reliever Teacher, you will be working alongside the permanent staff and be involved in the day-to-day activities of the room. Looking for guidance of where you may be needed but also using your initiative to be helpful and working as part of the team. No day will be the same, as our BestStart Relievers can work across any of our centres.

To be considered to work as a teacher, you must have the below:
- NZ qualification in ECE or Primary (BEd/Grad Dip) Level 7 minimum
- NZ Registration current (Provisional or Full) with NZ Teaching Council
- NZQA endorsement completed for overseas quals must be endorsed at Level 7 or higher and be endorsed to work at NZ ECE level.
