Job Description

Ko wai mātou – About us
Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square right? That’s us!
With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life. Locally owned, we reflect the communities we serve, and we celebrate our people - our taonga, every day for being uniquely them. As an HR team, our mission is to enable our leaders and people to be the best they can be, to create awesome employee experiences.

Te Tūranga – About the role
This role has become available due to four internal shifts within the HR team – a direct reflection of Foodstuffs’ strong belief in internal mobility, supporting career development and providing opportunities for our people to grow and succeed within the business.

We’re on the hunt for an HR Consultant to proactively partner with the business on a fixed term contract until March 2026, based in our awesome office at The Landing, Mangere. We have a hybrid working model with a mix of office time and working from home. This role may require some travel to our other Auckland sites and around the North Island.

The HR Consultant provides high volume employment relations (ER) support to our Support Centre and Supply Chain teams. This role will give you the unique opportunity to make a real difference, influencing and coaching leaders on a wide range of ER matters (including the tricky ones) in one of the largest businesses in New Zealand. You’ll work alongside leaders to manage their ER cases from end to end including disciplinaries, investigations, performance management and absenteeism, as well as rolling out proactive tools for our leaders to develop their own skills in this space.

Ngā painga - What we offer
We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits
· Free carparking, we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including 36 EV plugs
· Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, 5% discount at our retail stores
· Flexible working options, a day off on your birthday
· Inhouse learning and development courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes)

He kōrero mōu - About you
You’ll be an ER superstar or have a keen desire to become one. You’re an HR professional with a solid track record in high volume ER, confidence in your ability to coach and influence leaders, and an understanding of NZ employment legislation. Exposure to unions would be an added bonus. You can combine a commercial lens with an employee experience mindset to turn any problem into a pragmatic solution – and you don’t shy away from a tough conversation. You thrive as part of a team, you’re known to hit the ground running and you love to put your hand up for new opportunities.

We’re interested in your diverse experiences, your strengths and how adaptable you are to learn and grow. If you don't meet every requirement, but feel this role could be for you, we’d still love to hear from you!

Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.

We’re proud to have a focus on Diversity & Inclusion here at Foodies and welcome courageous behaviour, encourage togetherness, inspire our people to be their best selves in our Foodies whānau.

We encourage you to apply with all your awesomeness and welcome your diverse background, including any disability, additional health and mental health needs, and/or neurodiversity.
