Here at WEL, we are working towards changing the approach to utility arboriculture and focusing our efforts on tree health and aesthetic values.

As a significant experienced Arborist, you will join our growing vegetation team to implement and oversee vegetation control measures that meet operational and safety objectives in a cost-effective manner as well as being hands on with the field staff.

Responsibilities

  • Trim or remove vegetation/trees within our network
  • Prepare, maintain and operate a range of Arborist’s tools and equipment
  • Carry out preliminary site visit prior to commencement of a new job to gain insight into the scope of work and any issues that may arise
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to encourage and motivate teams to meet set targets and objectives on a daily basis
  • Be available as part of the standby roster as required
  • Take ownership of jobs and ensure crews are running efficiently to maximise productivity
  • Liaise with the control centre, dispatch and other operations staff, as required
  • Ensure the correct maintenance and operation of company vehicles, materials and plant as required
  • Liaise with other utilities / authorities if required
  • Ensure the correct use of appropriate technology and tools


Skills and experience

  • Significant Arborist experience in the utility space
  • Commitment to Health and Safety
  • Formal qualifications preferred (as well as class 2, 4 or 5 driver’s licence)
  • EWP experience
  • Proven track record with similar responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision of arborist-based teams
