The Company
Nilfisk was founded in 1906 with a vision of producing and selling cleaning machinery of the highest quality worldwide. Today, Nilfisk offers an extensive range of premium cleaning products with a trusted aftermarket offering to the professional market.

The main product lines are Floorcare machines, High Pressure washers and Commercial Vacuums. Their NZ Company also trades as Kerrick after it was acquired by Nilfisk in 2015.

The Role
We are currently looking for a Service Technician or a Service Engineer to join the servicing team in a newly renovated workshop in Lower Hutt.

You will be working on a wide range of interesting equipment/machines. Whilst there is training and manuals to refer to, you will need to have a good mechanical aptitude and can think on your feet.

This is a fast-paced role where you will need to complete job orders in a reasonable time by keeping accurate diagnostic and repair time to a minimum whilst maintaining a high standard. It is primarily workshop based but some local travel may apply.

As the sole technician for the branch, you will be assisting with general administrative duties in relation to invoices, orders, warranties, etc. with the help of the latest I.T. technology.

You will be comfortable dealing with Customers on a daily basis and must be tolerant of service work interruptions as there can be walk-in customers regularly.

About You
You will have diagnostic skills and like fixing things. We are looking for an experienced technician. A history of working with small engine equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, waterblasters is desirable but not essential. If you have welding experience and/or electrically certified - EST, this too would be an advantage (but not essential).

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering aptitude who is keen to learn and develop their skills under experts in this industry. Attractive salary: between $70K and $75K depending on skill level, working a 40-hour week. A Company van, iPad, phone and laptop provided.

Skills we are looking for but not essential:

  • Hands-on mechanical experience (at least two years of experience in a servicing/ maintenance-based role). Electrical and/or welding skills are highly regarded.
  • Able to diagnose faults effectively from manuals
  • Skilled with hand tools and power tools
  • Able to work at a fast pace
  • Computer literate and basic admin skills
  • Has the right attitude to learn
  • Good Customer service and English skills and able to work unsupervised
