Job Description

Who is NZTE The purpose of NZTE is to grow companies internationally, for the good of New Zealand. NZTE’s team operates from 47 offices, working across 24 time zones and speaking 40 languages to support New Zealand businesses in over 100 countries.

What you'll be doing

You will be leading a team that delivers services to New Zealand exporters, to help them grow internationally. You will own the customer experience for the whole of NZTE, and ensure the delivery of value through the core operating model. You will foster a strong culture of ambition for growth and high performance, and lead in the development of talent and the deployment of digital technologies.

Along with the rest of NZTE, and with other agencies, you will hunt the macro government target of doubling the value of exports over 10 years.

What you'll need to be successful

  • An experienced leader – Someone who walks the talk in terms of people leadership, coaching, empowering and building high performing teams, and shaping organisational culture in a distributed environment.
  • Commercially strong – Someone who understands and has experience in how international exporting works, and how to grow companies internationally
  • Operational delivery – Someone who has a proven ability to design and apply an operating model and deliver results through good operations.
  • Relationship builder and connector– Someone who is able to develop and maintain trusted relationships across different parts of NZTE, and across NZ. Be able to build connections with senior leaders of NZ Exporters.
  • Outstanding communicator – Someone who is able to build rapport quickly, and shares insights both internally and externally.
  • Sound strategist – Someone who can fully participate in and contribute to the evolution of the strategy of NZTE, and contribute to the strategy of government
