Job Description

Position Overview
A fantastic opportunity for a well-rounded procurement professional to further their career in an environment of continuous improvement that is implementing a procure to contract system. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will join our Procurement and Contracts team. This position can be based at either our Palmerston North or Wellington locations, with hybrid working arrangements available.

About the Role
As Senior Procurement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating collaboration across a diverse range of stakeholders involved in procurement, contract, and supplier management activities. You will think strategically about emerging opportunities and challenges in procurement, developing thoughtful insights, recommendations, and action plans.

This role requires a comprehensive skill set, reflective of the full procurement lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, develop, and deliver procurement plans, tender documents, evaluation reports, and other procurement documentation.
  • Manage, review, negotiate, and administer contractual documents (both new and existing).
  • Conduct and participate in supplier engagement meetings between suppliers and key stakeholders to ensure measurable outcomes benefiting all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrating leadership and persuasion to influence stakeholders to adopt best practice procurement policies and processes.


What You Will Bring

  • A degree in a relevant subject, or additional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS), with a good understanding of New Zealand Procurement Rules (preferred).
  • Proven experience leading collaborative procurement projects in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a high degree of commercial acumen.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience managing large tenders/contracts.
  • Knowledge and experience in embedding sustainability and Te Tiriti considerations into sourcing and supply chain strategies (desirable).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and impactfully to diverse audiences.
