Te Wero - The Challenge
This role aims to lead the Infrastructure Engineering Team and offer engineering support and guidance to the Infrastructure Group on current, new, and proposed projects. This ensures that our infrastructure remains compliant and sustainable, promoting the health and well-being of our communities.
Key Accountabilities:
Establish and lead a centre of engineering excellence, guiding the Engineering Team to complete the Infrastructure Group's capital works programme.
Provide civil engineering advice to the Infrastructure Strategy group and Council.
Maintain and utilize three waters infrastructure models for future service planning.
Ensure wastewater discharge to land options are considered.
Oversee and coordinate improvements in water and wastewater treatment processes.
Conduct research on emerging technologies and update Council's Engineering Standards and Guidelines as needed.
This position reports directly to the Head of Infrastructure and is based in Kaikohe. The role is pivotal in providing regular updates and insights to support strategic decision-making in the Infrastructure Group.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and Te Tiriti ō Waitangi obligations
Familiarity with NZ local government legislation, Public Works Act, and Resource Management Act
Ability to collaborate across teams
Proven experience in managing consultants

The salary for this position is Grade 23 within Council's salary structure ($147,747 to $173,820 pro rata gross per annum), plus Kiwi Saver.
