About the role and who we are looking for:

ESS are looking for an enthusiastic Catering Supervisor to work at RNZAF Ohakea in the Manawatu region. This is a Permanent Full Time position, rostered across 7 days per week.

RNZAF Ohakea is located within the Manawatu district, 26 km west of Palmerston North and 48km from Whanganui and 24 km from Marton and Feilding. With some of the best fly fishing, hunting, great walks, skiing and mountain bike trails in the country within easy reach of your doorstep it's an outdoor enthusiast's dream. This busy diverse Airforce Base is the Hub of the air wing in New Zealand and offers a unique chance and insight into the military world of Officer and senior/junior ranks training.

Come work in one of NZ's top outdoor regions Manawatu / Ruapehu - Home to Tongariro National Park and Whanganui National Park and two New Zealand Great Walks, Fishing beaches, there's plenty to see and do in in this area all year-round.

Your responsibilities:

  • leading and developing the team to provide superb customer service
  • assist in food preparation and presentation
  • training your team to grow and encourage a positive team environment
  • ensuring that the day-to-day operation is delivered in accordance with both health and safety and client standards.


Ideal skills and experience you will:

If you're our ideal candidate you will be hard working, with a friendly outgoing personality and a 'can do' attitude. You will have previous experience working in a similar supervisory role, be articulate and highly organised, and able to juggle multiple demands. Ideally you will hold food safety certificates (Unit Standard 167 and 168),or be happy to be train for one. You will be a natural leader, but most importantly, you will demonstrate a passion for great food, customer service and quality!
