He angitūtanga: The opportunity
With our Leisure Centres busier than ever, our fitness teams play a vital role in ensuring visitors stay motivated, engaged, and eager to return. We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Fitness Consultant to join our dynamic team!

This is a permanent part-time role, offering 20 hours per week. The shifts include: Tuesday to Friday evenings and Saturdays. But is subject to change according to the roster and the needs of the centre, so flexibility is essential.

As a Fitness Consultant, you will be helping people achieve their health and well-being goals and delivering fitness programmes for all ages and abilities across our diverse community. You will write and deliver fitness programmes and ensure our members are using the correct workout techniques, and provide outstanding customer service. This includes managing memberships, conducting tours, and creating a welcoming, supportive environment.

We are looking for individuals who are not just professionals in fitness, but also truly passionate about health and well-being. You will possess:

  • A recognised fitness-related qualification and perfereable first aid certificate
  • Knowledge of fitness training, including fitness testing and monitoring techniques.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with clients and understand their needs.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude that thrives on client interaction.
  • A flexible approach and a willingness to learn and adapt to new fitness trends and solutions. While experience is beneficial, it is not key; we value candidates who are eager to learn and grow in this role.
  • Excellent time management skills and confidence in handling administrative tasks.

We aim to upskill and progress your career, so you can train and take on other functions within our centres. Starting as a Fitness Consultant there is potential to progress to a personal trainer.

By the same token, if we occasionally need some help in other areas such as at our front desk and general customer service duties, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if short-staffed or at peak periods.
