Bay Venues …. Haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. As the kaitiaki of 24 facilities in Tauranga Moana, we proudly offer a range of activities and experiences intended to put a smile on the dial of our community.

There are currently opportunities within our aquatics team for a part time lifeguard at the Otumoetai Pool from the 29th of February.
As a part of our awesome aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring our customers are safe and well looked after while they have fun in the water. You will actively patrol the venue, interact with our customers and promote good pool etiquette. From time to time, you will carry out a range of cleaning tasks to keep the facility an enjoyable space for all and from time to time may even assist in covering our reception desk. You could learn to complete plant room and water quality checks and will be well prepared for any emergency situations that could come your way.
You will be given the opportunity to complete a range of transferable qualifications, such as your first aid certificate, emergency management, water quality, chemical handling and your PLPC pool lifeguard certificate if not already obtained. And you'll get to work with a great bunch of people who want to make a difference in the community.
To be successful in this position you must:
- Be able to swim 200m in 6 minutes or less
- Have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Be a committed team player, who is able to act in a proactive manner
- Have the ability to retain professional demeanor, think clearly and remain calm during an emergency
- Be passionate about swimming and what the pools have to offer
- Have (or could obtain) a First Aid Certificate
- Having a valid Pool Lifeguard Practicing (PLPC) Certificate is desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.
Previous experience in lifeguarding is not necessary as full training can be provided. You would need to be available to attend 2 full days of training plus hold or obtain a current first aid certificate.
