The opportunity
We are now seeking applications for the permanent position of Functional Leader - Product Performance, Refrigeration.
The team has a strong focus on the needs of the end user and is responsible for using scientific insights and methodology to champion premium food care and usability outcomes across the Fisher & Paykel Refrigeration range. In addition, they develop and run test procedures and processes to specify and evaluate the performance of products, from initial scoping through to production and beyond. The results of these tests are key in assisting Engineering, Industrial Design, Reliability and Software in the development of class leading products. All projects require this team to work closely with both internal and external customers.
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role, you should have solid understanding of testing methodology relevant to food care and preservation, standards and the use of research and project management skills to drive great decision-making. You should be passionate about developing a great team and delivery premium products to our customers. Leadership takes many forms and while you might already have some leadership experience, we are also keen to identify and support those with leadership potential and the commitment to continue to invest in their learning journey.
The team has a wide range of responsibilities in all aspects of our projects and so you will have excellent problem-solving insight and an appreciation for good planning and systems. Being able to provide a clear purpose and vision within the company strategy and be passionate about how the team can continue to develop and operate at their full potential is key.
Some of the key aspects of this role include:
- Working closely with other Functional Leaders and Chief Engineers to plan and deliver premium product to satisfy our vision and our customers' interests
- Coaching and mentoring your team to help them develop and thrive
- Influencing and leading team members to understand and ensure clear objectives are set and achieved to deliver projects
- Leading the development and capture of reusable process knowledge
- Working as part of the Product Development leadership team to improve our tools, processes and methods.
We’re looking for evidence you are pro-active, have a hands-on approach and the ability to work and communicate effectively, both within your team and across the organisation.
It is important in this role that you do have relevant development and testing experience, and you likely have a background in Science, Consumer and Applied Science, Food Science or Engineering.
