Job Description

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for receiving beef and lamb livestock from transport agencies and maintaining a constant flow of stock to the processing rooms.

You will oversee a team of 15 - 20 staff whose role is in ensuring animal welfare and animal presentation is maintained at all times as well as compliance with all processes and procedures.

Being able to lead and motivate your team is a key aspect of this role. You will have a committed approach to leadership with the ability to drive your team members to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.

Qualifications

This role requires attention to detail when completing documentation such as receiving stock and producing kill agendas. It also requires the ability to train and upskill others to ensure the efficient operation of the department. Good animal husbandry and knowledge of animal welfare would be advantageous, however not a requirement. An upbeat attitude towards staff management and accountability and engagement and empowering staff to perform is required. Previous experience in this area is preferable.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership skills,
  • Previous experience in a similar leadership role,
  • Preferably good stockmanship experience, with an empathy for animal welfare,
  • Good computer skills,
  • A commitment to health and safety,


While previous experience in this role would be an advantage, we are willing to offer full training to a successful applicant with suitable experience and the right attitude.
