Job Description

As a Video Editor and Producer for The New Zealand Herald, you'll play a pivotal role in creating high-quality, up-to-the-minute video content for our digital and streaming audiences. You'll have the opportunity to edit compelling video content, suggest fresh interview angles, and ensure our news stream stays dynamic and engaging.

HOW YOU'LL DO IT:

  • Collaborate with a talented team to deliver live and edited video content for various platforms.
  • Use your editing expertise to ensure video and audio are optimised for the NZ Herald audience.
  • Research, pitch, and produce news segments, ensuring they resonate with our viewers.
  • Thrive under pressure, working efficiently to meet tight deadlines while ensuring editorial standards are met.
  • Contribute to a diverse range of stories including hard news, politics, business, lifestyle, and entertainment.


ABOUT YOU:

  • 3 years experience in newsrooms or a production role, with expertise in video and multimedia content preferred.
  • A keen understanding of how editing can impact a story’s meaning and presentation.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining adaptable to fast-changing news priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills and an eye for detail, particularly with grammar and formatting.
  • Familiarity with media law and editorial ethics, ensuring compliance in all aspects of production.
