We’re looking for a Senior Partnerships Specialist to join our Community Conservation and Engagement team within the Environmental Services department.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in securing private and philanthropic partnerships that support positive environmental outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau. You'll identify, secure and grow strategic partnerships that increase investment in Auckland's natural environment, aligning with council's long-term conservation goals. Your work will directly support the delivery of environmental projects and programmes, creating lasting benefits for communities, ecosystems and future generations.
Please note:
This is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity covering a 10-month contract. We are looking to ill this role as soon as possible, with the contract set to conclude by February 2026 at the latest.
This role is deemed safety sensitive and, in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.

You’re a results-driven professional with a proven ability to cultivate and maintain strategic relationships. With a strong background in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, fundraising or business development, you understand how to align interests and foster mutually beneficial collaborations.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in securing funding or investment through partnerships witha strategic mindset with the ability to identify new opportunities and align interests
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
- Creative problem-solving abilities to develop tailored partnership solutions
- A relevant qualification or experience in business, marketing, communications, conservation, sustainability or commerce
- A full and clean NZ Drivers' License
While we are looking for someone experienced who can hit the ground running, we also welcome applicants who have a solid foundation in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, or fundraising and are eager to take the next step in their career. This role is ideal for professionals looking to expand their impact and step into a more strategic position.
