Job Description

Part Time Cook – 25 Hours Per Week
Do you love cooking and want to make a difference in children’s lives? We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Cook to join our team and play a vital role in creating a warm, nurturing environment for our tamariki, aged 2 – 5 years old. We have a maximum of 28 tamariki in our centre. Perfect for Mums who would like to work while their tamariki are at school. Ideal hours!

This role requires efficiency, outstanding time management, and a solid understanding of nutritious foods that promote healthy eating. If you're passionate about crafting nutritious and delicious meals that children will enjoy, we'd love to hear from you!

As our Centre Cook, you’ll play a key role in ensuring children eat well and build a positive relationship with food. You'll also have the opportunity to create menus using seasonal ingredients, tailored to children’s nutritional needs and interests, adding joy, creativity, and variety to meal times.

Some Role requirements:

  1. Planning & cooking a rotating 4-week menu using fresh, nutritious ingredients.
  2. Maintain kitchen health & safety and high hygiene standards.
  3. Keep the kitchen clean and organised to meet food safety standards.
  4. Understand of children’s nutrition needs and food safety regulations.
  5. Prepare morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late snacks for up to 28 tamariki.
  6. Cater to allergy and dietary restrictions, including allergies and cultural preferences.
  7. Plan menus and manage food and grocery order.
  8. Manage food orders and inventory within budget.
  9. Encourage positive, enjoyable, and healthy kai time experiences for tamariki.
  10. Work independently and manage time effectively.
  11. Have (or be willing to get) a Food safety Certificate.
  12. Have (or be willing to get) a First aid certificate.
