Be part of one of the best policy shops in Government! We are looking for people to join our high-performing policy team where you will be responsible for developing, managing and communicating tax and social policy.

You will represent Inland Revenue as a subject matter expert and be a trusted advisor to government, parliament, select committees, and stakeholders – collaborating with other advisors and leaders to manage workflows and ensure effective changes to important tax and social policy issues.

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Relevant policy and/or legislative experience, along with an understanding of government priorities and the political context
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to tailor complex messages to diverse audiences
  • The ability to drive a process involving a range of stakeholders and deliver results within required timeframes.


Mō mātou | About us
The Policy team is primarily based in Wellington and advises Government on a range of tax and social policy issues. We research and develop policy options, and present policy recommendations to senior officials and Ministers. Unlike other policy shops, we also prepare our own legislation arising from those policy recommendations and our advisors support it through the legislative process.
