Position Overview
The School of Veterinary Science at Massey University is seeking to appoint a Professor of Veterinary Anaesthesia, to be based at the University’s Manawatū Campus, in Palmerston North.

About this role:
The Anaesthesia department works across all of the clinics of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital – predominantly the Companion Animal Hospital but also the Equine Clinic and Farm Services to a lesser extent. We have primary accession as well as specialist capability in each clinic ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded clinical education. The anaesthesia department provides clinical instruction while delivering a high level of care for both complex specialist procedures and first opinion cases. As a Professor of Anaesthesia you would be immersed in the service provision while also supporting the academic development of our undergraduates, interns, residents, veterinarians and nursing staff.

Applicants are expected to hold a relevant PhD (or equivalent) and preferably board-certified specialisation, and a BVSc or equivalent degree recognised by the New Zealand Veterinary Council to enable registration in New Zealand as a veterinarian.

Applicants should have excellent teaching and research experience in a university or other tertiary teaching environment. In addition, experience in the use of electronic and on-line technologies in blended and distance teaching delivery and experience in use of innovative teaching and assessment methods in undergraduate teaching would be helpful.

We are looking for someone who is an Internationally recognised leader in research with publications in veterinary anaesthesia and associated disciplines, experience in writing successful research grants and a track record of successful postgraduate research supervision.
