Job Description

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

As a member of our Learning & Development (L&D) team, you'll leverage your expertise in facilitation to design and deliver face-to-face and virtual learning solutions. You'll collaborate with colleagues in L&D, Organisational Development, and various other business units to create best-practice learning using a range of methodologies. We're dedicated to delivering innovative solutions across diverse business areas, including fisheries, food safety, agriculture and investments, forestry, and biosecurity.

Our learning initiatives range from large-scale programs to smaller, targeted solutions, including facilitated workshops, videos, e-learning modules, webinars, and learner support materials like user guides. We support every part of the business, offering a vibrant mix of subjects, customers, and challenges.

About You - Mōu

You are people-focused and enjoy working with colleagues at all levels of the organisation. You bring expertise in facilitation, using multiple tools and technologies, to deliver technical learning and facilitate our virtual induction program. Your experience in developing engaging and interactive learning will be invaluable.

You'll work collaboratively with learning designers, developers, and capability coordinators to brainstorm solutions and deliver value to our customers. Your curiosity, energy, and passion will help create great learning experiences for MPI staff.

This role requires a can-do attitude, being a good team player, and having a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. If you're ready to rise to the challenge of a dynamic environment and take the next step in your career with our energetic team, this role is for you.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in group facilitation both face to face and online.
  • A strong understanding of the design process for learning.
  • Experience in creating solutions for new software such as SharePoint.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, and able to work with diverse views and influence outcomes.
  • Proficiency with various learning technologies and tools.
  • The ability to work effectively with ambiguity.
  • Experience working with project management in a learning context is ideal for this sort of work but not necessary.
  • A degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience working as an L&D facilitator or similar role.
  • Energy, passion, and a sense of fun.


About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

The L&D team is a highly collaborative team of 17. We work collaboratively together, drawing on the many strengths of the team, and we genuinely care about each other. No one day is the same and we are always learning new things and building relationships across MPI. This is a true team environment with autonomy.
