Mō mātou | About Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne

Imagine being part of a pioneering conservation organisation with a 500-year vision. Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne is more than just an eco-sanctuary—it’s a place where nature, people, and culture come together in harmony. As stewards of a 225-hectare forest in Wellington, New Zealand, we’re committed to restoring native ecosystems and bringing species like hihi and tuatara back from the brink. Our mission, “Living with Nature—Tiaki Taiao, Tiaki Tangata,” drives us to inspire actions that transform how people live with nature. We work with passion, pride, and a deep sense of purpose. Here, everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of our environment and our community.

Our team is passionate about conservation, education, and community engagement. We actively embrace tikanga Māori, honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and strive for a culture of inclusivity and collaboration. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and every role in the organisation has some part to play in ensuring our visitors, volunteers, and members are cared for and welcomed. If you’re ready to make an impact in a place where your work truly matters, Zealandia is the place for you.
