Job Description

  • 6 month contract role – Start ASAP
  • Hybrid / WFH options

About the Role

Our client is on the hunt for a seasoned, data-driven professional to join their team in a senior, hands-on capacity. This role is all about enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of finance operations by streamlining and automating existing processes, modernising outdated tools, and lifting reporting capability.

To be successful, you’ll need strong technical expertise and the confidence to hit the ground running. High-level skills in Power BI, Power Query, and Excel VBA are essential, as you’ll be expected to work independently and drive improvements with minimal oversight.

If you’re someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and knows how to bridge the gap between data and finance operations, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and enhance Excel VBA tools, identifying opportunities to simplify, modernise, or replace macros with sustainable solutions.
  • Identify and implement automation and process improvement opportunities across finance workflows.
  • Design and build scalable Power BI dashboards and data models to replace manual reporting processes.
  • Use Power Query (M) to connect, clean, and transform data from a variety of sources.
  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver practical, user-friendly solutions.
  • Document workflows, solutions, and user guidance to support handover and long-term sustainability.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering automation and reporting solutions in finance or business operations in an insurance or finanacial services sector.
  • Excel VBA – auditing, refactoring, and/or decommissioning legacy macros
  • Power Query (M) – shaping and transforming data
  • Power BI – data modelling, DAX, and visual storytelling
  • Advanced Excel – including Power Pivot, dynamic formulas, and structured tables
  • Sound understanding of accounting and finance principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills with a strong eye for process efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good Stakeholder engagement capabilities

The ideal candidate will be someone who can hit the ground running, work autonomously, and partner closely with finance stakeholders to identify pain points and implement meaningful improvements. If you’re confident with data, process optimisation, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
