Date: 28 Feb 2025
Location: Central Auckland, NZ, 1010
Description:
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Embark on a journey with Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa New Zealand Maritime Museum.
Celebrating the connection between people and the sea, the team of passionate staff and volunteers share New Zealand’s history and inspirational stories through extensive galleries, exhibitions, programmes and on-water experiences.
Sitting at the gateway of Auckland’s vibrant Viaduct Basin on Hobson Wharf, the museum is Auckland's primary CBD-based waterfront visitor attraction.
We are looking for an experienced customer-focused Front of House Team Leader (FOHTL) to lead and inspire our front-of-house team, enhancing our visitor experience with outstanding service and Manaakitanga (hospitality). You’ll manage day-to-day operations, oversee a team of Museum Assistants, and ensure that every visitor enjoys a memorable museum experience.
We have two permanent, part-time positions of 32 hours / 4 days per week. Days and roster to be discussed – likely to be either Sun- Wed or Wed - Sat. This forms part of a job-share with another FOHTL to cover the 7-day week.
A typical day may see your day start by checking the roster and briefing the team before opening, then jumping in to support the front desk during peak times. You’ll be training new staff on our ticketing system, coordinating with teams across the museum to prepare for events or group visits, and ensuring our team has everything they need to deliver seamless, welcoming service to our visitors.
This is a hands-on leadership role where your days will be varied, people-focused, and full of opportunities to make a meaningful impact on the visitor experience.
The role will also require occasional evening shifts and public holidays.
