Are you passionate about making a real, positive impact in Auckland’s diverse communities? Do you have deep experience working with migrant and resettled communities, along with strong networks in this sector? Do you believe that communities themselves best understand their challenges and solutions—and that with the right support, they can drive meaningful change?
Auckland Council’s regional Community Innovation Team is looking for a dedicated professional to lead Welcoming Communities initiatives, working closely with ethnic, migrant, and resettled communities to foster inclusion, belonging, and participation.
In this dynamic and influential role, you will:
- Leverage your strong networks and relationships within migrant and resettled communities to co-develop impactful initiatives.
- Support and empower communities to develop and deliver projects that address key issues.
- Provide evidence-based advice to inform decision-making by elected members and leadership.
- Champion innovation and transformation in community led innovation and development.

If you are passionate about working with communities, thrive in collaborative environments, and are committed to achieving meaningful outcomes, this is the perfect role for you. We are seeking a Fixed-Term Community Innovation Specialist who can leverage their strong existing networks and serve as a trusted partner within the communities they work with.
If you have expertise in co-design, community-led development, innovative practices in the community sector, facilitation, social enterprise and economic development, policy development, or accessibility and inclusion, this role offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a meaningful and impactful way.
Your ability to build relationships, drive innovative solutions, and champion community-led change will be key to empowering migrant, resettled, ethnic and new communities across Auckland.
