Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us

Finished your degree or in your final year? Do you want to work with New Zealand's largest and most influential businesses?

Our Corporate & Institutional Banking Graduate programme is slightly different from other banks, it is a permanent role where you will be placed in a team directly (rather than rotating around different areas), and from day 1 you will gain client facing experience!

Mō te Hōtaka | About the Programme

Throughout the Graduate programme you will be supported via a buddy system and learn the ropes through shadowing portfolios of clients, helping you to develop the skills and capabilities to fast track your career at BNZ.

Through a mixture of workshops and on the job training, the programme experience is designed as a foundation to fast track you to an Associate role, where ultimately you will support some of New Zealand's largest customers and institutions with their complex banking needs, property finance solutions or complex corporate transactions.

Below are the 4 key sectors where are our Graduate opportunities sit (all roles are based in Auckland):

  • Corporate Banking – we offer a wide range of banking solutions to our customers, from term lending and working capital, to trade finance and international products. Our customers include New Zealand’s largest and most prominent privately owned businesses, and our relationships with them are paramount.
  • Institutional Banking – from strategy and funding to payments solutions, BNZ provides advice and guidance every step of the way. In this team, you'll develop specialist credit and relationship skills across a range of industry sectors.
  • Corporate Finance – we originate, structure and execute non-vanilla transactions for our Private Equity and BNZ Corporate and Institutional clients and targets, and provide general debt and structuring advisory services to Client Directors nationally.
  • Property Finance – we cater to a range of property finance solutions, from the purchase of a single industrial unit to some of the most complex development transactions seen in New Zealand, while also supporting our customers in the daily banking needs.

Please let us know if you have a preferred sector in the Cover Letter of your application. Although we try to match your preference, we appreciate your flexibility, if successful.
