About the role
As a Senior Engineer on the Merchant Authentication team at Shopify, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the security and user experience for millions of merchants building their businesses on our platform. While your primary focus will be on backend engineering, you'll also leverage your foundational security knowledge to help protect our systems and merchants. You'll work on creating secure, scalable solutions that enable seamless, passwordless authentication experiences across various merchant facing applications.

What We're Looking For

• A strong background in backend engineering, with experience in Ruby, TypeScript, MySQL, and Linux.
• Knowledge of application security and authentication principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
