Job Description

  • This role offers the opportunity to be part of a high-performing team in influencing the future regulatory environment for the bank and managing ASB's relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining high-value relationships with government, industry and regulators.


Te Tūranga | The role:

Work Alongside the Senior Manager, Government Relations and HO GRRA, lead the development and implementation of annual and longer-term strategy for engagement with government and key public sector agencies.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Draft and assist with coordination of events or projects with other business units related to government advocacy on key topics and issues
  • Develop high-level communications and briefing materials for target audiences in collaboration with other areas of the business to promote greater collaboration with Government on key issues.
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Head of GR and Regulatory Affairs to advise on responses to inquiries from government officials, advocacy documents and special projects.
  • Provides input to speeches and remarks for senior leaders relating to government and thought leadership.
  • Work with wider Corporate Affairs team on written materials in support of thought leadership goals.

We are seeking a confident and articulate communicator with strengths in building strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally. Presents intellectual curiosity and creativity, someone who is passionate about understanding the "why" and translating insights into actionable outcomes.

  • Corporate Affairs, Communications and/or Government or Public Relations experience desired
  • A drive for accuracy, intellectual rigor, and professionalism.
  • An analytical thinker adept at grasping complex subjects swiftly and challenging the status quo.
  • They must demonstrate a keen understanding of diverse political and regulatory risks, along with emerging industry trends and their impact on the regulatory landscape.
  • Attention to detail, intellectual rigor, and a commitment to professionalism are crucial.


The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter eager to contribute meaningfully within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
