He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As a Leading Hand Structures, you will be responsible for leading a team to maintain, repair, and renew railway structures. You’ll ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, while also supporting the professional growth of your team.
Your role will involve:
- Supervising and participating in the maintenance and repair of railway structures
- Ensuring work is planned and executed efficiently
- Taking immediate action to address defects or hazards
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Supporting compliance reporting by providing data and reports
- Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring all work follows KiwiRail’s safety standards
*This role may require travel and occasional overnight stays, and you’ll be expected to be available for call-outs when necessary*
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring
We’re looking for a strong team leader who can motivate others and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently. You’ll need:
- Experience supervising a team in a maintenance or construction environment
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- A solid background in civil maintenance drainage, culvert cleaning and replacement
- Knowledge of rail infrastructure codes and standards
- A commitment to health and safety, with the ability to lead by example
- Computer literacy for reporting and documentation
- A Class 2 New Zealand driver’s licence
- NCEA Level 1 or 2 (or equivalent)
- Desirable but not essential:
- Civil or relevant trade qualification
