Job Description

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for aquatic operations?
We are looking for a dedicated Duty Manager to join the Wellington Pools team. You'll focus on operational excellence and people development, whilst contributing to the day-to-day running of our very busy and unique facility ensuring the facility operates efficiently while upholding the highest standards of safety.

Our Duty Managers work closely with the Operations Manager to:

  • Ensure procedures and schedules for facility maintenance and presentation are carried out.
  • Build and enhance the capability of your team.
  • Display visible leadership in health and safety systems and practices.
  • Provide and maintain a high standard of pool lifeguarding through regular training.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Undertake administrative tasks including time sheeting and reporting.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of our services and pools


It goes without saying that you'll have a passion for aquatics, and you'll enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience with customers and colleagues to improve water safety. About you:

  • Hold a current NZ lifeguard qualification - PLPC, first aid level 2 or higher.
  • Previous experience as a Duty Manager or Team Leader at an aquatic facility.
  • Be an effective communicator and confident in providing leadership and excellent interpersonal skills that will enable you to develop strong working relationships with people.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in the aquatics industry.
  • A high level of customer service commitment, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends on a rotating roster over 7 days. (earliest start being 5.30am with the latest finish being 10pm).

We are looking to appoint from $68,855 per annum, for this role, with scope to depending on relevant skills and experience.
