Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Reporting to the Performance Sport Team Leader, this position presents the opportunity to play a key role in the wellbeing of our students, in New Zealand’s leading tertiary institution.

The Performance Sport Coordinator will oversee all elements related to the successful delivery of the High Performance Support Programme and have a strong focus on providing advocacy and advice to those students.

Relationship management is a key component to this role as the Performance Sport Coordinator will need to assist students to connect in with a variety of support services both at the university and externally.

Key accountabilities for this position include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee all elements related to the successful delivery of the High Performance Programme including; identifying students that require support from the university, delivering induction programmes for high performing students and communicating regularly with those students
  • Provide support and connection to internal and external support services
  • Advise the Performance Sport Team Leader on various aspects of supporting students including opportunities to develop, process improvements and annual plans.
  • Project manage and deliver sports events, programmes and services as required.


This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.
The remuneration range for this role is $62,400 - $77,800, depending on skills and experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree or a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Relevant experience in higher education institutions in a similar role and/or experience working in the sport and recreation industry.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the sport and recreation industry.
  • Ability to show innovation and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Outstanding communication skills and pride yourself on delivering the highest level of service to our students.
